  4. Due to industrial action there are no trains at Aldershot in this night shot. However Aldershot Town FC are about to play Welling United at the nearby Recreation Ground (and win 3-0) and the floodlights and station lights show a colourful scene on a cold December night.

  9. Wightlink Car ferries MV Victoria of Wight and MV St Faith are at Camber Dock in Portsmouth’s Gunwharf area. Controversially MV Victoria of Wight, which is Wightlink’s biggest ferry, is out of service with an engine fault which is causing mass disruption to the service across the Solent!

  10. A little later than the previous picture, Wight Ryder 2 is now travelling along the channel (a “Port” side marker buoy can be seen) to its dock in Portsmouth Harbour. The Sun has nearly gone and the already sub-zero temperatures start to fall further!

  13. The temperature is already well below freezing as dusk gathers in Wapping, East London. The warm and cosy “Prospect of Whitby” pub isn’t too far away to chase the cold away!
