About Me

  1. The Royal Oak is a legendary pub in the tiny hamlet of Hollywater in Hampshire (between Liphook and Whitehill). After being closed for over 2 x years, it re-opened in November 2023 and is again proving popular. The Sun is setting on New Years Eve 2023 and unfortunately heavy rain isn’t too far away, but let’s hope the Sun never sets again on the Royal Oak!

  2. The Sun is seen rising over Fanum House (AA HQ) on a cold January morning in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England.

  3. The “Great Oak” is an iconic Petersfield landmark which now sits between a hotel of the same name and a branch (no pun intended) of McDonalds. The setting sun is seen between the branches setting across the South Downs at Butser Hill.

  4. A sprig of holly with its berries in the Hogmoor Inclosure in Hampshire on Christmas Eve 2023. Can anyone spot the Pug?

  5. A different view of the road sign in the previous picture. The air temperature is -2 x degrees!

    Freezing Fog!

The temperature across North Hampshire has been sub zero for several days, and the freezing fog has frozen the cobwebs on this road sign in Whitehill! Hope the spider is ok!

  7. Whitehill is a village in Hampshire, England and part of a small town called Bordon. This shots shows a contrast of the street lighting and a “Supermoon” rising to the South.

  8. The River Wey rises in the North at Alton and the South in Haslemere and combine in Tilford near Farnham before flowing into the River Thames at Weybridge. Here at Hammer Vale (about 2 x miles from source in Haslemere), the South Wey flows quite heavily swollen by recent heavy rainfall).

  9. Winchester is the “County Town” of Hampshire (even though it is actually a City). This is the City’s Cathedral with the rather unique green roof of the Guildhall also in view. The Guildhall has always reminded me of the Town Hall in the 1960s children’s TV programme, “Trumpton!”

  10. Fuggletim

    Frozen Cobwebs

A prolonged period of sun zero temperature with the threat of snow has been over Hampshire for several days now! These are frozen cobwebs on a set of traffic lights!

  11. The late Summer/Early Autumn Sunrise shines through the the light mist along a Hampshire country lane near Blackmoor.

  12. A "Full Moon" rises over the Hogmoor Inclosure in Hampshire.

  13. The sun is rising and the Station lights reflect on the damp platform as a South Western Railway Class 450 Desiro awaits departure forming the 07:44 Alton to London Waterloo.

  14. A nice warm Hampshire afternoon sees this beautiful creature arrive for a fleeting visit!

  15. Whilst walking along Hogmoor Road, this little fellow came running out of a driveway! Not sure who was the most surprised!

    New Moon

The Sun has almost gone, but it's light is creating a New Moon across Hampshire on a cold Spring night. Look carefully and the whole outline of the Moon is visible!

    Icicles!

With temperatures well below Zero for several days, icicles have formed on plants next to the road at Stanford in Hampshire!

  18. Early morning at a damp and cold Bentley Station on the South Western Railway network in Hampshire. Note the crows flying!

  19. The early morning Sun glints off of the Skyline Plaza as it rises over Basingstoke, Hampshire, England.

  20. A rather pensive Hedgehog is caught on his/her evening stroll in Warren Close in Whitehill, Hampshire.

  21. Not the sunset as such, but the setting sun here is giving an orange tinge to the clouds to the East of the sunset.

  22. The setting sun creates a beautiful orange Corona (can we still use that word?) through the trees in Alton, Hampshire

  23. The "Roman Gate" is one of the three named entrances to the Hogmoor Inclosure (the other two being the Gilbert White Gate and the Railway Gate). They reflect the local history of the area. Facing west, it is a good spot for a sunset picture from the Roman Gate.

  24. Although the Sunset is obviously brighter towards the west, the light the setting sun casts to the North West still makes for a beautiful skyscape.

  25. Early Summer sunshine turns the leaves of a Chestnut tree a translucent green in Blackmoor, Hampshire.
