  1. South Western Railway Class 450 Desiro 450 030 waits at London Waterloo to form the 2L49 16:45 to Basingstoke. The Driver has not yet arrived, but in the background an unidentified Class 458 Juniper arrives from Windsor & Elton Riverside. In the background the iconic London Eye and Art Deco Shell building can be seen.

  2. Due to industrial action there are no trains at Aldershot in this night shot. However Aldershot Town FC are about to play Welling United at the nearby Recreation Ground (and win 3-0) and the floodlights and station lights show a colourful scene on a cold December night.

  3. With the downs above Ventnor in the distance, Shanklin Station glows in the late Dusk. The Sun has gone, the temperature has dropped and the lights are on. A few passengers are waiting for the train back to Ryde Pier Head in the cold evening. Shanklin is the end of the line for trains on Island Line, but the railway once carried on another 5 x miles or so to Ventnor.

  4. From the album: Bring Back the Trains!

Now with a Burger King right in front!! Whatever happened to the good old days of proper Dining Cars on trains?!
  5. From the album: Bring Back the Trains!

With the obligatory London Red Bus (albeit a modern single-decker) - and of course, a young pretty girl who just happened to be standing there at the time!!
  6. From the album: Bring Back the Trains!

Look for the place with the stone archway entrance to the left of the escalater - (which was out of service...) Now a currency exchange kiosk. In the days before next day deliveries to your home address, the Parcel Office at London Victoria would have been as busy and bustling as the rest of the station.
  7. On a dull Summer day, with a stopping train bound for London Waterloo in the background, a Buddleia bush in full beautiful bloom adorns the now abandoned Alton Platform. Buddleia grows like crazy and has beautiful and fragrant flowers which attract bees and other insects. It is very common across the UK railway network!
