This is the County boundary entering into West Sussex from Hampshire at Hammer. 3 x Counties meet in the locality but the actual boundary with the county of Surrey exists in the nearby forest to the North East. There are over 40 x Counties in England. Just outside Haslemere, 3 of those come together in the village of Hammer. This is a picture of the sign coming from West Sussex into Hampshire. For a short time, this area had a sign saying “Hammer Bottom” which people kept stealing because of the innuendo!
