An English pub well known to both the author of this post and the owner of this website! Situated about 1.5 x miles from Bordon in Hampshire in Hollywater, the author has been coming here for over 42 x years. After a long period of closure between 2021 and 2023 it re-opened in November 2023 and this is an outside view on the first anniversary party in November 2024!© Tim Penycate

The Raynes Park Vale Goalkeeper makes a crucial save in the Isthmian League fixture against Farnham Town! Farnham went on to win 2-1 to cement their top of the table position. This is quite a low level of football (several levels below the English Premier League) but just under 1000 people watched the game. In context crowds at this level are usually about 100!

What used to be a nice view of Manila Bay, a few blocks in from Roxas Blvd., is now fast disappearing behind a seemingly never-ending stream of new high-rise buildings. Not that there will be much of the Bay left to admire from the new buildings either - since the construction of a new artificial island has commenced.1 point
