This was built in defence of the city during the war of 1812.There are four of these towers in the city at the time of construction they were designed so they could be seen from one another. They are designed also so the roof falls away in twelve sections to expose 4 large cannons on the top floor of the structure. They worked in conjunction with Fort Henry World Historic site to the east of here. The building seen in the background is (R.M.C.) Royal Military College. The tower is open to the public in the summer months many military historic artifacts are seen here.
