an interesting head and shoulders portraite, not to happy with the construction of the face, so any advise on how i could improve it would be greatly appreciated

The face is fine, for me. It has a unique style.

If it was mine, I would go just go with the flow and call that syle my own.

 

Clearly this was never an attempt at photo-realism. And even if it was, I would have suggested that you - or anyone else - would be better-off using a camera! :)

 

I think, if you are trying to achieve another style, you would have to be a little specific as to what it is that you are trying to achieve, before anyone could really offer much in the way of useful advice?
