Shawn Norring, Fred Logan and Richie Wilson

I was shocked to learn in the Maritime Press Clippings,

of the untimely death of Shawn Norring, (the guy on the left, in the brown jacket...)

Shawn was a well-liked and highly valued member of the team aboard c.s. Pacific Guardian in March/April 2007. This was his first venture away from the Canadian Coastguard. I remember well, the CANTAT 3 cable repair, in deep water just off the Grand Banks. This was the ship's second attempt at the same repair, having had to give-up and head for port due to horrendous weather conditions a few months earlier. Things weren't exactly a picnic in April but I do remember we had a great team on that job! Shawn was ever cheerful. He adapted very quickly to his new working environment and he was very much a part of the team on that ultimately very successful cable repair.

Shawn will be remebered fondly by all who had the pleasure to sail with him during his short period of time with Global Marine Systems.
