My first ever painting that was not based on a photograph! This is a purely fictitious scene that I just concocted-up in my imagination. It is supposed to be a view through an old country cottage window, somewhere in the South of England on a warm, sunny morning. The garden pool has some koi swimming around in it and the bench is just waiting for me to take out my coffee and sit on it to watch the koi! I called this "Shoubi - One" because I really need to have another go at this one... 'Shame really, as it was quite good at one stage - but I totally overworked it and had to give-up before I completely spoiled the painting. Anyway, I decided to keep it as some of my dog's character has somehow managed to come through with this one. But with the next attempt, I want to try and capture the magnificent quality of her coat! 6. From the album: my stuff

This was the second drawing I did in those four drawings I drew in 98. This one and "First" are the only two I will show.

  7. From the album: my stuff

This was a drawing of my first love in high school around 1979. I drew this in 98 as I remembered her. It was part of 4 drawings I drew in an attempt to break out of my burnout from art I was having since the early 90's. Two of them came out quite nice (I thought) I tucked them into a portfolio folder I have, and didn't pick up pen, pencil or brush again until about 5 months ago. Digital art has awaken me. This time I'm doing it right. For the love of art not money.

  8. From the album: Some more recent pastel paintings

This was about my third attempt at painting a pastel portrait from a photo of a lovely Thai girl, called Tussinee. Each attempt was getting progressively worse than the previous. When I finally realized that I just wasn't in the mood for painting, I lost my patience with it and defaced the thing completely. Then again, when I looked at it, I just thought; "Hey! I'm going to keep this one!" A not very good attempt at making a copy from a family photo. Never mind... I was quite happy with some of the background - and these things can only get better! (It also kept me out of any other kind of mischief for a while...) A pastel painting of Shoubi, my Pit Bull Terrier cross-breed bitch. This was my second attempt and, although it is still a long way from perfect, I feel it is an improvement on "Shoubi - One". I managed to get her coloring a bit better and Shoubi looks less "foxy" here - so I am quite happy with it!
