Every portrait that I made is from my Imagination. This is the second time I draw a woman face using pastel. Maybe next time (cross finger) I can draw the whole body. -

Amateur pastel portrait of a beautiful young Filpina girl. I promised to have a go at doing a portrait of Shy a long time ago. I struggled with this one... Anyway, here it is, for what it is worth. More practice needed. Oh well, I'll get there in the end. Either that, or find something more useful to do with my spare time! Internationally renowned photographer David Noton very kindly gave me permission to use his photograph Portrait of a girl, Vang Vieng, Laos as the basis for a practise painting - and I did warn him that the results of my efforts would probably end-up bearing very little resemblance to his excellent photo. I wasn't wrong!! If you check-out the link, above, you will see that the subject of the photo was a child - whereas my feable attempt has made her look like a young lady. Still, even though this looks nothing like the girl in the photo, I kind of like her strange expression - and I did have fun trying with this one! My first attempt at a portrait of a friend of mine's niece. I done this during leave from my job in April, 2013. Unfortunately, the weather was extremely hot in the Philippines and I was in a bit of a rush to try and get this finished. I will probably try to make a few very minor adjustments when I get back home but I don't want to try to hard with this, as I will only end-up completely ruining it... I like to try and get the face more-or-less finished before working on the hair last. This is just to ensure that any stray hairs end-up in front of the face.
