A “Lunar Eclipse” occurs when the Earth passes directly in front of the Sun and the Moon. The shadow appears as a dark area on the bright lunar surface and is sometimes known as a “Blood Moon” given the orange/brown shadow. This shot taken on Bembridge Down on the Isle of Wight shows a clear crescent of the Moon and shadowed outline of the rest of it. This picture was taken approximately 80 x minutes after the Eclipse has started.

It is 05:30 in the morning and Dawn is breaking in Ryde on the Isle of Wight. Looking towards Ryde St John’s Road from the Ryde Tunnel exit, the “Distant” signal helps guard the approach to Ryde St John’s Road. The train service will not be commencing on this Sunday morning for nearly another hour.

The final train of the day on Island Line (formed of Class 484 005) shunts towards the Depot at the close of service. A wonderfully atmospheric picute capturing the lamplight around Ryde St John’s Road and the Moon partially obscured by clouds.
