Image courtesy of artfreaks.com member Noel L. Laxamano. He writes: "I never thought that a Mike Herrera original was hanging in our living room! Here is his rendition of everyday Filipino activities in the early 19th century in the infamous Binondo, Manila. The work is oil on canvas, measuring 30in (height) x 50in (length)..."

A mixed media relief art painting by Mike Herrera, seen in one of the art galleries in Ermita, Manila, sometime around the year 2005? I am not sure what sort of technique Mike used to get the (cave wall rocks, or whatever they are supposed to be) into such stark relief? 'Very interesting painting, though.

(My title!!) Photo of a Mike Herera painting that I saw in one of the art galleries in Ermita, Manila - sometime in February 2005 The painting is a watercolour and it was framed behind glass, so I do apologise for the reflection of the strip light in the gallery.

Photo taken from the Saphan Taksin Bridge - without the use of a tripod. I tried resting the camera on a parapet of the bridge but with a half second exposure time, I would have been better off bringing my tripod along. (Even then, with a slow old camera and heavy lorries thundering by shaking the bridge every few seconds, this one would always have been a bit of a challenge!!)

Pink Tropical Water Lilies (or "Lotus," if you prefer!) These beautiful lilies grow in a ditch beside the road in Soi Sukjai, between Soi 40 and Soi 42 off the Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok. Apparently, they were just thrown in there, years ago, by the owner of the house behind were they grow. Like most tropical water lilies, the flowers only open at night...

Namwaan is the best teacher of the Thai language that I ever had! She is a star! Very bright too... And Soi Cowboy is as good a venue for lessons as any. 'Only place I know where you can have a beer during lesson time!

Standard fare for me in Bangkok - especially when I have a hangover! Love Scene is a geat little place. Very close to Soi Cowboy. Directly opposite a 7-11, if anyone is interested! Just look for the two statues of ladies making the wai gesture outside the entrance. Go down the little passageway beside the kitchen. 'Looks a bit dodgy but well worth it when you get inside!

These little stalls seem to spring-up all over the place in Bangkok. One day, it's just an empty space... The next, it is a bustling hive of activity. I love Bangkok!

รถติดในถนนรัชดาภิเษก กรุงเทพมหานคร This is not as bad as it looks. Traffic is stacked up but when it gets moving, it keeps moving for quite a bit. And there's always the Skytrain if you want to avoid traffic jams. Or, my favourite - the motorcycle taxis!
