One of the guard dogs at the Madilosa family residence in Davao del Sur, Mindanao, Philippines. (I sometimes stay with the madilosa family when I am in that part of the country.) I don't think this dog has a name - I just call him "Scruffy!" He's looking very pleased with himself here as he has just got back from a long walk around the rice paddies! -

Two of the guard dogs at the Madilosa family residence in Davao del Sur, Mindanao, Philippines. (I sometimes stay with the madilosa family when I am in that part of the country.) I don't think the long-haired one has a name - I just call him "Scruffy!" The short-haired one is known as "Pandak" - which is Tagalog for "Shorty!" (He's obviously got a bit of daschund in him) -

My second dog, Bruce. An RSPCA resue dog, he spent many a happy year in the fairly large garden of our old house in Bordon, Hampshire, (UK) Bruce was a guard dog par-excellence - but at the same time, he was also unbelievably good with children. I remember hearing a whimpering noise one time... I went into the sitting-room to find my then 2 year-old daughter sitting on his back twisting and pulling his long fur. Not even a warning growl - he just lay there whimpering. He wouldn't even stand up for fear of tipping my daughter off his back and hurting her...
