Unfortunately the photographer didn’t record which vessel this was but it is either Wight Ryder I or Wight Ryder II on the 20:20 Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde Pier sailing. The Sun is setting on a hot day and the Solent is a perfect calm.

The sun sets on a hot mid summer’s day at Portsmouth Harbour creating a wonderful scenic photograph of preserved HMS Warrior. The author was travelling for work on the Isle of Wight the following day with the usual 2 x hour journey taking nearly 5 and a half hours due to substantial issues on the trains!

A cold November day sees the setting sun across Portsmouth Harbout over the former HMS Dolphin building. Although a nice, but cold day, the clouds indicate a change of weather is coming and indeed over the next 12 x hours almost 1.5 x inches of rain fell!

Wight Ryder II arrives at Ryde Pier Head from Portsmouth Harbour, ready to go back with 23:10 sailing back from Ryde Pier Head. This is the last sailing of the day. The Covid pandemic affected public transport quite badly in the UK in 2020 and 2021 and mostly (but not all) it has returned to what it was in 2019, but it has been a slow process. In March 2023 Wightlink (the operator) restored a lot of its services lost during that terrible period for the world. The restoration of these services are VERY welcome!
