morth 36
What is the best way of photographing a pastel painting, especially lighting wise, I.E. flash, ambient etc.?
Root Admin smb 1,316 Posted June 11, 2014 Root Admin Report Share Posted June 11, 2014 Bright but diffused light. And since I wrote my reply to the article, I have started using a tripod... This allows me to use a longer exposure (without getting any camera shake) - and a smaller aperture to keep the whole painting well focused. You can even get away with photographing the painting behind glass if you use a polarizing filter but I reckon you will generally get a better photo if the painting is not yet framed behind glass. 0 Quote VicRolfe.com Itaas Mo! Root Admin smb 1,316 Posted November 26, 2019 Root Admin Report Share Posted November 26, 2019 Further to the above, I would definitely advise against using a flash - unless you can bounce it off one of those big umbrella-shaped light diffusers, or something. More on this in the Articles section at: https://www.artfreaks.com/articles.html/top-tips-for-photographers/photographing-pastels-r29/ 0 Quote VicRolfe.com Itaas Mo! (Cheers!)
