If you are into arts or into planting, then this is the best thing for you. Aside from recycling you can also put paint on it and be creative. This quarantine got me so bored and our bin for bottles is full cause there is no collector of junk, so I decided to do something about it. The materials that you needed are plastic bottles, of course some root or plant if you want to transfer it; then optional - paint for the design -- Think green -- , then optional – paint for the design. You can save some money from buying a plant vase. These are the designs that I made, see photos below.2 points

Getting ready for work!! Just another night in Soi Cowboy, Bangkok! I am sure this girl has something else to wear. But this is where she works. The evening is just revving-up - and she thinks nothing of walking around in just her bra and panties, while buying some new clothes for the night!1 point -

A young Filipino boy selling flowers - together with his pet mouse! Malate, Manila - March 2005 Unfortunately, when I reduced the image file for posting on a previous version of ArtFreaks, I never thought to keep the original high resolution image file. So this particular one is not available in the print program on my portfolio at ArtWanted.com1 point -

Internationally renowned photographer David Noton very kindly gave me permission to use his photograph Portrait of a girl, Vang Vieng, Laos as the basis for a practise painting - and I did warn him that the results of my efforts would probably end-up bearing very little resemblance to his excellent photo. I wasn't wrong!! If you check-out the link, above, you will see that the subject of the photo was a child - whereas my feable attempt has made her look like a young lady. Still, even though this looks nothing like the girl in the photo, I kind of like her strange expression - and I did have fun trying with this one! Purely from imagination. The feathers are well 'over the top.' It's a kind of self-portrait... Kind of how I would like to imagine myself as a native North American Indian with my very own style of feathery headdress... Loads and loads of feathers and colors all over the place! Just a quick pastel painting of a Filipina teenage girl, cellphone in-hand, texting away in the doorway of a rural cottage where I used to visit in the Southern Philippines. From one of my own photos. I don't know why but I can never seem to get the faces right on either of the two youngest sisters in that family... The fourth and final stage. At this point, I realized that the painting wasn't going to get any better with any more work. I probably would have spoiled the thing completely if I'd tried to do any more with it, so I just signed it and left it as it is.1 point -

My attempt at copying a photo of a teenage girl's self-shot photo on Facebook.com Argghh... Not quite what I wanted but it will have to do. At least I am managing to keep myself in the mood for painting. With these disappointing portrait attempts, I am tempted to stick to the landscapes. Oh well... Who knows? If I keep trying, I might one day be able to do a pretty girl's face justice in my art? From the album: Have a go!
This painting was done in my spare time, whilst working aboard a ship, (the c.s. Wave Venture, berthed alongside in the Port of Victoria B.C., Canada in December, 2006) As you can see, my cabin was fairly cramped. There was also a limit as to what I could carry with me from the Philippines, (where I live.) I was working from an image on my laptop and I took the photo, on which the painting is based, during a recent trip to Magsaysay in Davao del Sur, Mindanao, in the Southern part of the Philippines. You can see the original photo on my Mindanao album and it is entitled Palayan Sunset Paper used was a very lightweight watercolor paper. I would have prefered a proper pastel paper but this was all I could find in one of the National Bookstore branches that I visited before leaving home. Aside from the laptop and paper, you can see a small selection of watercolor paints, one small brush and a collection of Rembrandt pastels - which I bought at Diovir Art Store in Sta. Cruz, Manila. Fixative is very conspicuous by it's absense here - only because I didn't have any. (I like to work my paintings up in layers and, with pastels, fixative is absolutely essential for this method - at least in the early and mid-stages...) The can of beer on the desk is optional!1 point -

Soft pastels on rough watercolor paper. 21 1/2" x 14" (54cm x 36cn) From one of my own photos of some rice fields in Mindanao, taken just before the planting season. Started some time in 2009 (September, I think?) Finished in June 2010!! This painting could have been done in a couple of days. (I made a rough outline in pastel and went over this with a water wash in order to tone the background - so I had to wait a day for that to dry... Otherwise I could have finished this in a few hours...) It took me about 9 months!!! I dunno... I just couldn't seem to find the time for painting. And when I did have the time, I couldn't get in the mood. Anyway, I am glad it is finished now and I have already started the next one. (My next painting is erotic art and it doesn't meet the Guidelines for this site. So you will not see it here, even if I ever do get around to finishing the thing!!) Just a small pastel painting that I done as a way of remembering Shoubi's best mate, Jumong - who sadly died while I was away on my recent commission at sea. The official story that I was given was that Jumong got sick and died. Not surprising really, as he spent most of the last months of his life in misery, tied up on a short piece of chain and hardly cared for. More likely though, he would have been killed for food? Despite the appalling conditions under which he was being kept, Jumong was a tough little dog... Anyway, whether he died, or was killed, I know for a fact that Jumong's carcass was not wasted. He did not get buried and he certainly had no flowers. So I decided to use a bit of artistic license and put some in the painting for him... 18 1/2" (47cm) x 12 1/2" (32cm) soft pastels on Saunders Waterford rough watercolor paper To purchase a high quality print of this image, please visit: ArtWanted.com Various gift items and dozens of personalized products such as mouse pads, t-shirts, greeting cards, mugs, puzzles and a lot more besides are also available, customized with this image at ArtWanted.com© © Vic Rolfe
