The River Wey marks the County Boundary between Hampshire and West Sussex about 2 x miles South West of Haslemere in a village called Hammer (named after a long closed Iron works which used the power of the River to drive machinery). The actual River itself rises in Haslemere and eventually joins the other branch of the River Wey at Tilford before flowing into the River Thames at Weybridge more than 30 x miles away to the North East. The River is fast flowing and has been swollen slightly by a couple of days of heavy rain.

Image courtesy of Tim Penycate, who writes: “Not so much an English country garden as an English country railway station with an English country garden attached! Some beautiful flowers brighten up a dull day at Ropley Station on the Mid Hants Railway!” The Midhants Railway, in the South of England, is otherwise known as the "Watercress Line." It is very popular with local tourists and day trippers who love to ride the trains which are hauled by some beautiful old preserved steam locomotives.
