  2. The Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway runs along the Kent Coast from Hythe to Dungeness (almost 15 x miles). It is the world’s smallest public railway! This is locomotive Number 10 called Doctor Syn which has been in service since 1931. It is seen here at the end of the working day about to go “On Shed” for the night.

    Haslemere

    The soon to close Haslemere Signalbox is seen with Desiro 450 125 about to depart towards Portsmouth & Southsea.

  4. Like its counterpart at Haslemere, Petersfield Signalbox closed in October 2025 following the transfer of signalling control to Basingstoke. The Signalbox is seen here again on the last full day of operation in October 2025.

  5. Haslemere is an intermediate Station on the rail route from London Waterloo to Portsmouth. As a part of the re-signalling, Haslemere Signalbox closed in late October 2025 with signalling now transferred to Basingstoke. The Signalbox at Haslemere had served for 130 x years and is seen here on the last full day of operation.

  9. The Hanseatic Nature is a cruise ship operated by Hapag Lloyd. In this delightful shot, the Hanseatic Nature can be seen in the background with one of her tenders along side the quay ferrying passengers to and from the ship. This is Cowes on the Isle of Wight and the Hanseatic Nature will be on her way later to Guernsey.

  10. Red Falcon is a car ferry operated by Red Funnel between Cowes and Southampton. It is seen here leaving the East Cowes terminal en route to Southampton.

  11. Red Jet 6 is operated by “Red Funnel” ferries and is seen here on a sailing from Cowes to Southampton. Red Funnel are one of 3 x operators of ferry services to the Isle of Wight. The others are Wightlink and Hovertravel (a hovercraft operator).

  12. One of the two “Wight Ryder” Fastcats approaches Ryde Pier Head on the 10:15 sailing from Portsmouth Harbour. This shot was taken from the MV St Clare on a sailing from Portsmouth Gunwharf to Fishbourne.
