From the album: Have a go!

After the initial sketch, I just filled-in with some background colour before giving it a quick spray with some museum grade varnish by way of a fixative

Anyone able to identify the artist? The signature looks to me like it is showing the year 1652... Can that be right?

  4. At least, former Chief Justice of the Philippines, Renato Corona was finally thrown out of office. wikipedia.org/wiki/Impeachment_of_Renato_Corona And that was a start. But, so far, it is a very long way away from Justice. Yes, it was a start. (Or it would have been, if the Filipino people were prepared to see this national disgrace through to the bitter end...) But what about the millions of dollars (and pesos - not to mention non-cash assets,) that Corona did not declare in his Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth? Is he now going to pay tax on that lot? Where did he get all that money? Can he prove that even one percent of it was aquired in legally-gotten gains? Arghhh...!! The forgiving nature of the Filipino people. "He has suffered enough by losing his job and being banned from holding public office for the rest of his life. Move on. FORGET!" There are other newer and more exciting things to worry about, than seeking justice for what the Chief Justice of the Philippines done to his country - and to the very name of the law and justic in his own country? One of the none too small problems with that, is that there will be no real progress in the Philippines until we start to see something even remotely resembly justice in the Philippines.
  5. Hello and welcome to ArtFreaks.com!

  6. Great website you have got there! I'd also suggest uploading a representative sample of your work here at ArtFreaks.com - just to generate more interest among our own members and the many regular guest visitors to this site. If you are planning to try selling downloads of your work in the Downloads module, make sure that you only post low resolution, (preferably water-marked,) copies of your work in the Gallery
  7. As a Full Member of ArtFreaks.com, you can also upload high resolution image files of your work in the Downloads module - and then charge an amount, (which you set,) for every time someone downloads a copy of your file. The person who has downloaded your file can then use the file for making a high quality print of your art. The link to the Downloads module is in the main navigation bar at the head of (almost) every page in the site. (Depending on your screen resolution, it might be under the "More" tab.) ArtFreaks.com takes 10% of whatever you decide to charge, every time payment is made for downloading one of your files. (This simply helps to offset some of our running costs...) It costs absolutely nothing, other than a bit of your time, to give this new feature of ArtFreaks.com a try. Tip: Upload a small, low-resolution and preferably water-marked screenshot with each high resolution file upload, so that people can see what they are getting. At the time of writing, you can upload image files of up to 30Mb in the Downloads module.
  8. Thanks for your interest in ArtFreaks.com Here's another site that you could try: Take a look at ArtWanted.com. They have a free entry-level membership if you just want to try-out the site and if you like them, you can always go for a paid membership package that would allow you to sell high quality prints of your work on line. (AW handle getting your prints made, shipping, billing etc. so it's really no hassle...)
  9. If you receive spam - or worse - a scam email purportedly from any of my personal or web site email addresses... I did NOT send it! Check the detailed header. If the IP address was from somewhere in Nigeria - IT WASN'T ME!

  16. Anyway, enjoy the BBQ and your 4th of July celebrations!
  17. And here is the background as to why the new date of June 12 was chosen for Philippine independance day: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippine_Declaration_of_Independence In fact, Filipinos are not really celebrating the day when the US graunted them full independence... They are actually celebrating their Declaration of Independence in 1898 In my experience, even many Filipinos get confused over this issue. I remember well the hullabaloo in 1998 when the Philippines was supposedly celebrating 100 years of 'independence!!??!!!!!!'
  18. I am looking forward to that day! 'Just done a bit of research on July 4th in the Philippines. 'Found this quite informative: answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090703121344AABokVh
  19. Right... Now I have to set-up my new printer so my youngest daughter can finish her homework (school assignments...) I might just get 5 minutes for painting later on this afternoon!
  20. Thanks for starting your new topic and I hope that some of the members will be able to find the time to reply also... For myself, I paint purely for enjoyment. It has been a while since I managed to reach a 'state of flow' during a painting session... That was a long time ago, when I was less busy during my leave periods from my job at sea - and I could afford the time to really get in to it. But I still enjoy painting whenever I do get the time. I am lucky in that I am able to rent a vacant property right next to where I live. It is mainly for my dogs, (two Siberian Huskies - not the easiest of dogs to look after in the Philippines!) The dogs have 'the run' of the yard and, of course, I have got the house itself as my studio. So far, I have only painted in pastels and I enjoy the media so much, I don't see that changing any time soon. The floor or my 'studio' is tiled, so the mess and dust from my pastel painting is very easy to clean-up - and I course, I can just leave everything 'as is' when I run out of time - and just come back to it at a later date. Sometimes, when I am away at sea and then other things take up my time when I do finally get home, a painting can be sitting there for up to 6 months in various stages of completion.
  21. Wow! I feel honored. Thanks for the feedback!
