If you're watching Kingdom series on Netflix then you've probably seen this place. Since Gyeongbokgung Palace was the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty and the Kingdom series was set on Joseon, they used this place for the filming. If you haven't watched Kingdom, I recommend it :) -

Based on what I've read in the internet, it says that pure grain alcohol or strong wine is the fluid used to preserve these kinds of plants. It also says that Roots that are preserved in strong wine will look fresh, even though the alcohol dehydrates the roots & replaces the water.
