About Me

  1. ...with a cow munching on some grass in the background! Photo taken in Rooksbridge, Somerset during the summer of 2020
  2. All handmade mixed media artworks, a depiction of a Mother and Child.
  3. From the album: My paintings

Still life with some pretty roses in a very pretty little painted flower vase. Oil on canvas board 30 inches X 18 inches
  4. From the album: Out and about in Somerset

...on the Strawberry Line (now National Cycle Network - route 26) running through North Somerset and Somerset, in the South West of England. You can just about make out the old platform ramp, almost buried beneath a lush growth of ivy, blackberries and all sorts of other wonderful plants! The Strawberry Line Trail currently runs from Yatton to Cheddar, mostly following the route of the old Strawberry Line Railway. There is an ongoing campaign to get the trail extended all the way to Shepton Mallet, via Wells is Somerset: Here you go...You can sign the petition, if you want! http://www.thestrawberryline.org.uk/index.php
  5. From the album: Out and about in Somerset

The slope where I saw these beautiful wild-growing flowers (garden escapees?) used to form the North face of the old Strawberry Line Railway cutting on the Northern edge of Axbridge. The railway itself has been long-gone - the modern by-pass following the route of the old railway line to the North of the Town - but if you look closely, you can still see where the old railway line used to run... An Ordnance Survey map is a great help, in the UK. If you can see roughly where the old railway used to run, you will still be able to make out features like the weather-worn limestone bedrock where the railway was cut into the slope at Hillside, along the lower slopes of Axbridge Hill.
  6. A similar view to the previous one but with an antique-look street lamp beside the garden pond. Photo taken in Rooksbridge, Somerset during the summer of 2020
  7. Flower painting. Some pretty yellow and white pansies - with some other pretty little orange-coloured flowers!!
  8. Beautiful sunflowers in full bloom. Photo taken in a garden in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur, Philippines. From: https://www.proflowers.com/blog/history-and-meaning-of-sunflowers

  15. The view from my brother's front garden at Livefoods UK in Rooksbridge, Somerset, in the South of England. You can check out the Livefoods UK facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/livefood/ The pond, surrounded by flowers, contains some nice koi and it is set against a backdrop of beautiful Somerset countryside and farmland on a sunny day in early summer.
  16. From the album: Denmark

Pretty little blue flowers by the roadside. Wildflowers are everywhere to be seen in the Sjaelland summertime countryside, just outside Kalundborg in Denmark
  17. From the album: Denmark

One of the joys of walking in a rural area in Denmark during the summertime!
  18. Image courtesy of Tim Penycate, who writes: “Not so much an English country garden as an English country railway station with an English country garden attached! Some beautiful flowers brighten up a dull day at Ropley Station on the Mid Hants Railway!” The Midhants Railway, in the South of England, is otherwise known as the "Watercress Line." It is very popular with local tourists and day trippers who love to ride the trains which are hauled by some beautiful old preserved steam locomotives.
