  2. This is the County boundary entering into West Sussex from Hampshire at Hammer. 3 x Counties meet in the locality but the actual boundary with the county of Surrey exists in the nearby forest to the North East. In the background of this shot, the incline to the railway bridge over the London to Portsmouth line can be seen.

  3. There are over 40 x Counties in England. Just outside Haslemere, 3 of those come together in the village of Hammer. This is a picture of the sign coming from West Sussex into Hampshire. For a short time, this area had a sign saying “Hammer Bottom” which people kept stealing because of the innuendo!

  4. A beautiful action shot of a Magpie caught on the Home CCTV of the author in Hampshire, England. Wonder if Alfred Hitchcock is interested! 😃

    Box Tunnel

    Great photo. 'Love it!
  7. One of the engineering marvels of the old Great Western Railway is Box Tunnel between Chippenham and Bath. At 3212 X Yards long, it was once the longest railway tunnel in the world and was designed by the famous engineer Brunel. Work started in 1836 and the tunnel opened in 1841.

  8. This is the old Farnham/Alton bound Platform at Ash Green (The Station is now a private house but this Platform is outside of the boundaries) looking towards Farnham. No passengers have used this Platform (Apart from an occasional Railtour) for 77 x years now (at the time of writing).

  9. Once a busy route between London Waterloo and Alton (via Guildford) closed in 1937. A faster more direct route from London to Alton (and beyond) via the rapidly expanding nearby military base of Aldershot in 1870 and reduced the importance of the route via Ash Green and Tongham. The route was truncated in the 1950s and closed completely in 1960. The route now forms part of the “Christmas Pie Trail” (named after a local village of that name)!

  10. Gwendoline is one of the cats that lives at the author’s house in the Philippines. She is about 5 x years old and despite the intensive glare is an actually a friendly girl and the most responsive of all the cats that live there.

    Rainbow

Some unseasonably cold and wet days in the UK has seen heavy rain showers and strong Sunshine. A recent rain shower has passed and the Sun pitching in from the West creates a beautiful Rainbow above Whitehill in Hampshire. If there is truth about the “Crock of Gold” at the end of the Rainbow, then it is in the “Great Wall” Chinese takeaway! 😆

    Rain has Passed.

Several heavy rain showers have affected North Hampshire and Whitehill. The rain has passed, but the clouds that brought some of them are now backlit by the setting Sun. This picture is taken from the Bordon and Whitehill Relief Road which follows the course of the old Railway that used to pass through the area.

  15. A distant and very isolated electrical storm produces lightning which creates a silhouette of a palm tree.

  16. As with the previous picture, this is another view of Cebu City by night shortly after Sunset. Both pictures are taken from the top floor of the Raddison Blu Hotel in the City!

  17. Cebu City is regarded as the second city of the Philippines after Manila. Still frenetic, but not quite like Manila and a great place to visit!

  18. Deltics can also be smelly. But they are foregiven, due to the wonderful sound that they make - especially when they are pulling away, from a standing start!!
  19. And a stunning number of views - in rather a short space of time!!
  20. I was wondering why I was feeling like a second coffee - when I realized I hadn't even had the first one!

    It's an age thing...

  21. Much of the PNR system (although not all) has closed down for 5 x years for major re-building and refurbishment. Tutoban Station is the main rail terminal in Manila and this is a view of the approach to the Station and the Depot outside.
