Looking towards Ryde St John’s Road from the Ryde Tunnel exit, the “Distant” signal helps guard the approach to Ryde St John’s Road. The train service will not be commencing on this Sunday morning for nearly another hour.

  11. Class 47 Diesel Electric 47 529 James Nighthall GC pulls away from Ropley with the 15:45 service to Alton with a huge cloud of exhaust smoke! This picture is at the Watercress Line in Hampshire on one of the ever popular “Days out with Thomas” events! “Thomas the Tank Engine” is just to the right of the picture!

  13. The final train of the day on Island Line (formed of Class 484 005) shunts towards the Depot at the close of service. A wonderfully atmospheric picute capturing the lamplight around Ryde St John’s Road and the Moon partially obscured by clouds.

  14. Royal Carribean’s “Independence of the Seas” passes and dwarfs “No Man’s Land Fort” in the Solent. It is sailing from Southampton to Bilbao and then around Spain before returning to Southampton in a few days time.

  16. Gloucester Docks is more of a residential, entertainment and retail location as opposed to its original commercial purposes. This is one of the many warehouses on the site taken from the West Bank of the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal.

    A Dive in Vain!

    The Badshot Lea Goalkeeper dives in vain to save the ball entering the net. His face says it all and this was the first of six goals scored by Aldershot Town on a hot, sunny July afternoon. This was a “Pre -Season Friendly” fixture.
