  1. Most cities in England have a Cathedral, but it is an often a mistaken belief that a city must have one to qualify as a city. It does not, and is actually dependent on whether a “Royal Charter” has been granted. Portsmouth is unusual insofar as it has 2 x Cathedrals; a Roman Catholic and and Anglican one. This is the Anglican one in area of the city known as “Old Portsmouth” and is seen here from Camber Dock after the storm clouds have passed over.

  2. Sad to say, the dog who was a regular, passed away a short time ago. There is a picture tribute attached to the fence now at that location as a tribute. 😔
  3. When I went there I thought it was like Brighton, but on a tropical beach! Didn’t like it at first, but after 24 x hours, I thought it was brilliant!
  4. This is the classic Boracay view. Love it!
  5. Camber Dock is in Portsmouth a city on the South Coast of England. It is an important military and commercial port, and the home of the UK’s Royal Navy. In this shot from Camber Dock, the landmark Spinnaker Tower, Ben Ainslie Sailing Centre, Gunwharf Ferry Terminal and the wonderful Bridge Tavern can be seen against the backdrop of the passing storm clouds. High tide is also approaching as can be seen by the water levels in the Dock.

    Goal in the FA Cup!

Bath City appeal in vain for a “Handball” offence in their 2-1 defeat to Aldershot Town in the FA Cup at Aldershot. This was Aldershot’s first goal of the afternoon and the tie was won in the 8th minute of stoppage time with Aldershot’s second goal. The FA Cup is the oldest “Knockout” football competition in the world having been founded in the 19th Century. This is also the first time Aldershot have met Bath City in a “Senior” game and the first time an Aldershot side have met a Bath City side in any competition since 1939!

  8. Than you. This area has some great views. It is on the South Coast of England!

  13. Looking towards the town of Gosport from the Round Tower beach in Portsmouth (at the Harbour mouth) the Sun is setting putting the old Diving Tower into silhouette. The Isle of Wight and Haslar Hospital can be seen in the background.

  14. Gunwharf is a former naval facility in Portsmouth which has been rebuilt as a shopping and recreational centre. The Spinnaker Tower is an iconic sight along the South Coast and here we see the Sunset silhouetting both the tower and one of the original naval cranes.

  15. St Faith is the smallest car ferry on the Wightlink service between Portsmouth Gunwharf and Ryde Fishbourne on the Isle of Wight. She is seen here passing Gosport on the way out of Portsmouth Harbour on the 16:30 sailing.

  17. Cruise ship Hanseatic Nature is moored alongside HMS Belfast in the Pool of London. Looking downstream in the Sunshine, Tower Bridge can be viewed in this busy river scene. The Hanseatic Nature is in port for 24hrs before sailing to her next destination in France en route ultimately to Seville.

    Inline Hockey!

Played to the same rules as Ice Hockey, but on skates, this is an action shot from Mustangs 5-4 victory over Oxford Blue. This was played at Bisley in Surrey, England!

  19. The site of Wroxall Station between Shanklin and Ventnor was closed in 1966 and the railway lifted. All that remains now the bridge carrying Castle Street over the old railway and part of the Station buildings (not seen and behind the photographer).
  20. Under an old bridge on the Red Squirrel Trail, two old “Chairs” that once held rails onto sleeper now rust away in silence.
