  2. RHS Wisley is a huge garden in Surrey just a mile South of the London Orbital Motorway, the M25. A freezing fog has sat over the garden for several days and produces this beautiful view.

  3. Aldershot Town are well on the way to a 3-0 defeat to Notts County, as the Sun sets and lights the clouds high above the Recreation Ground in Aldershot.

  4. South Western Railway Class 450 Desiro 450 030 waits at London Waterloo to form the 2L49 16:45 to Basingstoke. The Driver has not yet arrived, but in the background an unidentified Class 458 Juniper arrives from Windsor & Elton Riverside. In the background the iconic London Eye and Art Deco Shell building can be seen.

  5. It is Half Time at the Recreation Ground and Aldershot are 1-0 down to local rivals Woking FC. The Sun has almost gone and dusk is gathering backlighting the clouds and producing this atmospheric shot of the sky and the floodlights.

A glint of Winter Sunshine reflects from the panel of a “Telstar” Christmas decoration on a Christmas tree.

  7. Due to industrial action there are no trains at Aldershot in this night shot. However Aldershot Town FC are about to play Welling United at the nearby Recreation Ground (and win 3-0) and the floodlights and station lights show a colourful scene on a cold December night.

  8. A view from outside the Still and West pub in Old Portsmouth looking out across the Solent. The Isle of Wight is in the distance and the sun is setting over what was HMS Dolphin ( The Royal Navy’s Submarine training location until 1999).

  12. Wightlink Car ferries MV Victoria of Wight and MV St Faith are at Camber Dock in Portsmouth’s Gunwharf area. Controversially MV Victoria of Wight, which is Wightlink’s biggest ferry, is out of service with an engine fault which is causing mass disruption to the service across the Solent!

  13. An unidentified South Western Railway Class 444 Desiro approaches Brookwood at speed on a snowy morning in December. Brookwood is 28 x miles from London on the route between London Waterloo and Southampton.

    Frozen Cobwebs

A prolonged period of sun zero temperature with the threat of snow has been over Hampshire for several days now! These are frozen cobwebs on a set of traffic lights!

  17. The temperature is already well below freezing as dusk gathers in Wapping, East London. The warm and cosy “Prospect of Whitby” pub isn’t too far away to chase the cold away!

  18. Wightlink’s Car Ferry “Victoria of Wight” is sailing across the Solent from Portsmouth Gunwharf to Fishbourne on the Isle of Wight. In the meantime the “Morning Post” belonging to the Eukor shipping line (a vehicle transporter) approaches from Southampton at the start of a long journey which will see her ultimately arrive in Durban, South Africa.

  19. A gale force Westerley wind is blowing off the Solent across Ryde Pier on the Isle of Wight. There has been a lot of heavy rain, but this has passed by. However a squally shower is passing over the city of Portsmouth which is being caught in the setting Sun causing this beautiful, but short lived rainbow.

  20. Heavy rain and strong winds have lashed the Solent all day. The rain has passed over, but there is still a Force 8 Westerley wind blowing in as the Sun sets across the Isle of Wight. The view was taken from inside Wight Ryder II (as tge outside decks were closed) and the spray from the sea can be seen on the window.

    Goal!

Farnham Town score on the rebound from a missed penalty under the floodlights. Sadly for Farnham the game finished 2-1 to opponents Tadley Calleva in the Combined Counties League.

  22. The largest warship in the world, the USS Gerald R Ford pays a courtesy visit to the UK. It is far to big to anchor in the Royal Navy Dockyard in Portsmouth, so sits at anchor off of Stokes Bay in the Solent.

  23. A heavy rain shower and bright sunshine combine to form a beautiful rainbow across the Solent. The city of Portsmouth is obscured by the rain on the right of the picture. This shot was taken from the Ryde Castle Hotel in Ryde, Isle of Wight.

  24. A beautiful study of Island Line’s Unit 484 002 waiting at Ryde St Johns Road Station with the setting Sun casting its golden rays on the train and the wet track. After 2 x days of heavy rain, the track about a mile away is heavily flooded and sadly the train will be going nowhere for the rest of the day.
